Diocese of Alleppey
The Diocese of Alleppey was erected by the Papal Bull "Ea Redemptoris Verba" of Pope Pius XII, dated 19/6/1952. The executorial Decree of 8/9/1952 assigned to each of the Diocese of Alleppey and Cochin a supplementary personal jurisdiction over certain parishes in the territory of the other. This Decree was approved by the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of Faith on 24/9/1952 and became effective on 11/10/1952.
H.E.Rt Rev. Dr James Raphael Anaparambil assumed charge over the governance of the diocese of Alleppey as its fourth Bishop on 11th October, 2019. Pope Francis has chosen him to the august position on December 7, 2017 and Bishop James received episcopal ordination on February 11, 2018.
